Our Vision
Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) is the global organization that connects people with the latest Wi-Fi initiatives. Founded in 2003, the vision of the WBA is to drive seamless, interoperable service experiences via Wi-Fi within the global wireless ecosystem.
Our Mission
Our mission is to enable collaboration between service providers, technology companies and organizations to achieve that vision. WBA undertakes programs and activities to address business and technical issues, as well as opportunities, for member companies.
WBA work areas include advocacy, industry guidelines, trials and certification. Its key programs include NextGen Wi-Fi, 5G, IoT, Testing & Interoperability, Roaming and Policy & Regulatory Affairs, with member-led Work Groups dedicated to resolving standards and technical issues to promote end-to-end services and accelerate business opportunities.

Key objectives
- Define and develop best practice for service providers to accelerate the delivery of state-of-the-art Wi-Fi Services for Carriers, Consumers, Enterprises and Cities realized through business guidelines, technical specifications, service standards, compliance guides, field trials and testing programs, certification and deployment guidelines.
- Share and promote thought-leadership and industry insights to drive business opportunities and growth for individuals and companies through WBA events like the Wireless Global Congress, Industry Awards, Innovation Showcase, Analyst and Media briefing sessions, WBA’s Global Wi-Fi Industry Report, Connected Communities Forum (CCF) and World Wi-Fi Day.
- Foster and enhance ecosystem engagement and adoption of the latest Wi-Fi and adjacent technologies realized through joint initiatives with key industry forums (GSMA, HTNG, LoRa Alliance, NGMN, Wi-Fi Alliance, etc.), Regulators and Policy Makers among others Wi-Fi ecosystem players.

Founded in 2003, the mission of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) is to accelerate global leadership for enabling of wireless services that are seamless, secure and interoperable. Building on our heritage of Next Generation Hotspot (NGH) and carrier Wi-Fi, the WBA will continue to drive and support the adoption of Next Generation Wireless services across the entire public Wi-Fi ecosystem, including IoT, Converged Services, Smart Cities, 5G, etc. Today, membership includes major fixed operators such as BT, Comcast and Charter Communications; seven of the top 10 mobile operator groups (by revenue) and leading technology companies such as Cisco, Microsoft, Huawei Technologies, Google and Intel.
