Sarper Gokturk

Vice President of Innovation, Airties

Biography:

Dr. Sarper Gokturk is the Vice President of Innovation at Airties. He is responsible for managing the research, design, prototyping, and proof-of-concept implementation of end-to-end Wi-Fi network management solutions. He also manages Airties’ patent portfolio and intellectual property.

With a strong expertise in wireless communications developed over the past 20 years, Dr. Gokturk is the inventor of more than 30 international patents and has published 12 academic papers. He has worked on many cross-industry initiatives, such as the Wi-Fi EasyMesh standard from the Wi-Fi Alliance as well as other projects for IEEE.  Since 2021, Dr. Gokturk has led the Operator Managed Wi-Fi work group within Wireless Broadband Alliance, where he also sits on the Alternate Board of Directors.

Dr. Gokturk also co-founded TEA networks, which specializes in predictive Wi-Fi management solutions where he held the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for a number of years. 

Dr. Gokturk received his BS degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 2004 and his MSc degree in Electrical and Telecommunications

Engineering from Drexel University in 2006. He received his PhD in Electronics Engineering from Sabanci University in 2011, where he went on to teach wireless communications. In 2010, Dr. Gokturk was also a visiting researcher at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University.
